Tom Blackmore will be playing James Abbott in My Lands Shore at The Theatre Soar in Merthyr Tdyfil, South West Wales in the new year.
Historical Welsh musical My Land’s Shore is heading home for its Welsh premiere at Theatr Soar in Merthyr Tydfil early next year.
Following on from the well-received world premiere run at London’s Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre in February, the show’s Welsh premiere run will begin on 20 February 2018.
Based on the true story of the tragic hero of the Merthyr Rising of 1831, when iron workers and coal miners were involved in bloody clashes with soldiers drafted in to protect industrialists, My Land’s Shore features a book and lyrics by Robert Gould and music and lyrics by Christopher J Orton.
Presented by All Star Productions, the new Welsh production will reunite the original creative team of director Brendan Matthew, musical director Aaron Clingham and choreographer Charlotte Tooth. The show will be produced by All Star’s Andrew Yon.
Casting will be announced in November.
The original production at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre was nominated for three Off West End Awards: Best New Musical, Best Musical Direction for Aaron Clingham and Best Set Design for Joana Dias.
