Musical of the Year

Musical of the Year” is about a composer and writer (who are husband and wife) who embark on creating the ultimate award-winning musical – and keep making “improvements” for the next 60 years!

It’s 1958 and college sweethearts Rudy Brown and Lizzy Conlon are determined that one year they will win Broadway’s coveted Musical of the Year award. So begins their 60-year process of rewriting the same show in the style of each year’s award winner, unwittingly imitating Lerner and Loewe, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Kander & Ebb, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Schwartz, Boublil & Schönberg, Robert Lopez and virtually every other composer in the musical theatre canon.

Will they ever win MUSICAL OF THE YEAR?

Musical of the Year” is an irreverent love-letter to musical theatre’s ever-changing style and constant charm.
